In the autumn of 2016, VEO was trusted with the power supply of Norbord’s new OSB3 production line in Inverness, Scotland. The UK-based company is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of engineered wood-based panel products. The project included a wide variety of switchgears, transformers and generators, all of which were transported to the plant. The scope of the project also included supervision, installation, commissioning and training.
The project started in October 2016, when VEO was contracted to carry out the power supply for Norbord’s new OSB3 production line in Inverness, Scotland. VEO provided the customer with low and medium voltage switchgears and transformers, including both main and distribution transformers, as well as black start generators, to name a few. The range of these was 33kV to 110VDC. Previous to that, VEO had delivered a number of projects to the site.
“Absolutely a good and experienced VEO project-team,” concluded Steve Oakes, Consultant at PCS Consultants Ltd.
On VEO’s part, the project was successfully completed according to schedule. In fact, it continues to be a work in progress due to additional orders made by Norbord. The estimated time of closing the project is September 2018. Despite being in charge of just a small part of the project worth hundreds of millions of pounds, for VEO, the project was huge. Due to the scope of it, it did not come without its challenges but overall, all went well. Feedback has been great both from the end customer and other parties involved.
