VEO delivered a 145 KV substation to Alta Kraftlag SA in Northern Norway. Alta Kraftlag SA is a grid owner who also owns substations and hydropower plants in Norway, in the Alta region.
The city of Alta has been vulnerable to power failures as they have lacked redundancy in the grid infrastructure. VEO has been involved in the project for solving the situation as we have delivered a large new substation as a turnkey delivery. The new Skoddevarre station is vital for the electricity supply and the people of Alta.
Alta is located in Northern Norway, where the extreme weather conditions make electricity a vital necessity and add certain requirements to the power supply infrastructure. Compared to most other substation projects, the Skoddevarre substation was larger, technically more demanding and more complex. Despite stricter requirements, VEO completed and commissioned the delivery successfully on time. The project gave VEO the opportunity to develop its flexible solutions further to meet the second highest Norwegian preparedness requirements for the electricity supply substations. The substation now has full redundancy with a double busbar 145 kV/22kV and duplicates of all of its critical components. If one component fails, another will automatically take over.
