VEO launches VECTOR 36 kV to support renewable energy projects
February 4, 2026With VECTOR 36 kV, VEO expands its medium-voltage portfolio into higher-capacity applications. The new switchgear combines proven design principles with new capabilities tailored for modern energy infrastructure.

Developed for renewable energy and future power systems
VECTOR 36 kV expands the established VECTOR platform beyond 12 and 24 kV into a new voltage segment, addressing increasing performance requirements in today’s energy projects. The switchgear is developed for modern power systems where scalability, reliability and high capacity are essential.
“Typical applications for VECTOR 36 kV will include wind and solar power plants as well as battery energy storage systems that support grid stability and flexibility. This development is in line with VEO’s strategy and our focus on solutions for the energy transition,” says Ari Pätsi, CTO at VEO.
VECTOR 36 kV will not only be used in VEO’s turnkey deliveries, it will also be offered as a stand-alone product. This gives customers greater flexibility in planning, procurement and integration, whether they are EPC partners or sourcing individual switchgear units.

Optimised for on-site efficiency
Alongside the increased voltage level and performance requirements, attention has been given to further enhancing usability.
“We have taken the best elements of earlier VECTOR variants and refined them based on insights from field experience,” says Pätsi. “The result is a solution that supports more efficient installation and smoother on-site work and serviceability, even as technical demands increase.”

Built on proven VECTOR design principles
VECTOR 36 kV is based on the same core design principles that have guided earlier VECTOR generations. Safety, reliability and SF₆-free technology remain central, with special focus on personal safety through compartmentalised construction and integrated electrical and mechanical interlockings.
A Nordic alternative in a global market
VECTOR 36 kV is developed and manufactured in Vaasa, Finland, at VEO’s own production facilities – the largest switchgear factory in the Nordics. This ensures consistent quality, high production capacity and close collaboration throughout the project.
The switchgear is currently in its final testing phase, with pilot projects planned as the next step. VECTOR 36 kV will be showcased at the Sähkö trade fair in Jyväskylä, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the new switchgear up close and discuss its applications with VEO’s experts.
“We look forward to meeting both existing and new customers in Jyväskylä and discussing how VECTOR 36 kV can support their future energy projects,” concludes Pätsi.
