VEO and Prime Capital join forces to realize Sandbacka Wind Park
November 14, 2023By building the new Sandbacka wind park in Vöyri and Uusikaarlepyy area, Prime Capital is solidifying its robust position as a pivotal player in Finland’s renewable energy and hydrogen market. Their trusted long-time partner VEO is chosen to support them in the project by delivering them a market-leading modular substation solution for wind power grid connection.
The Sandbacka wind park will consist of 14 turbines, with a total capacity of approximately 92 megawatts. The park is planned to commence its operations in the latter part of 2024 to further enhance Finland’s renewable energy production.
This project is an excellent extension of earlier collaboration between Prime Capital and VEO. The companies have worked together earlier e.g. in Lappfjärd Wind Park in Kristiinankaupunki. With the proven record of the efficiency of VEO’s modular concept, it was an easy choice for Prime Capital to collaborate with them on the Sandbacka project.
“The choice was made due to the positive experience with VEO in our previous project, a competitive sales offer, and the location of VEO in the proximity of the project site. VEO has proactively provided valuable input on how to optimize the configuration of the substation and that has reduced significantly the costs and complexity of the project”, describes Prime Capital’s Head of Engineering Andreas Schmid.
VEO has full EPC responsibility for building the substation in the Sandbacka project. Their role covers earthworks, steel structures, substation construction, equipment, and related overall deliveries.
“Prime Capital is a crucial player in realizing Finland’s renewable energy and hydrogen strategy, and we’re honored that they rely on our expertise in this new project as well. Supporting the green transition is a key part of VEO’s strategy, which aligns greatly with Prime Capital’s remarkable efforts”, summarizes VEO’s Sales Manager Juha-Petteri Lesonen.
