The project, including the modernisation of Rengård G1 and the extension Rengård G2, is a result of 10 years of close co-operation between VEO and Skellefteå Kraft.

In the modernisation of the Rengård G1 plant (upgraded from 35 MW to 45 MW), VEO has modernised the electrification and automation systems. VEO’s extensive delivery covered the renewal of all systems inside the plant, as well as a new switchyard. Altogether, the reforms improve both the plant’s energy production level and its reserve capacity.

Now, VEO is participating in the 26 MW extension, the Rengård G2 plant. The client declared at an early stage that the procurement would be done as a collaboration project, where different suppliers, including VEO, would participate in the planning of the project in order to find the best and most optimal solutions.

VEO delivers all the electrification and automation systems needed for the power plant, and the switchyard equipment.

The Rengård hydropower plant (G1 + G2) is the first project where the new Reference Designation System for Power Systems (RDS-PS) has been fully implemented.

“As a power plant owner, we have access to a lot of data, but the problem is that the data is not structured or defined in the same way, hence, it is challenging to utilise properly. From a plant maintenance aspect, it is extremely important to have this possibility”, says Christina Svensson, Project Manager at Skellefteå Kraft.

At VEO, the G2 project is in the engineering phase. The plant is expected to be commissioned during 2024.
