VEO’s Christmas donation supports local work against domestic violence
december 10, 2020Instead of sending corporate Christmas gifts, VEO has been donating to good causes since 2006. This year, VEO decided to donate to the Vaasa charity, Mother and Child Home and Shelter, to help in its work against domestic violence.
“This has been an exceptional year, and our board wanted to help those who we believe need it the most. We have all read about the increasing difficulties and rising cases of domestic abuse in families, so the decision was unanimous”, says CEO Timo Ala-Heikkilä.
Mika Lindén, the executive director of the Mother and Child Home and Shelter in Vaasa, visited VEO’s headquarters to receive the donation. He told Timo Ala-Heikkilä that the exceptional circumstances this year have had an impact on the work of non-profit organisations as well. That is why VEO’s donation is now even more needed and appreciated than ever.
“Thanks to donations like this, we can help the families using our services to have a proper Christmas. VEO’s contribution will be used to buy gift cards for food, presents and activities for the families. And, of course, our employees will offer all the support and help they can to ensure a safe and memorable Christmas for the children”, says Mika Lindén.
Timo Ala-Heikkilä is pleased to have learnt more about the working methods and actual projects in the field after meeting Mika Lindén.
“It feels good to support the valuable work that the Mother and Child Home and Shelter in Vaasa is doing.”
AS VEO is based in Ostrobothnia, Timo Ala-Heikkilä believes it is important that the company supports local actors in the region. Previous donations have targeted different fields of activity, such as education, culture and healthcare.
