VEO chosen as MCC supplier for Boliden’s Green Zinc Odda project in Norway

VEO is to supply motor control technology to Boliden’s Green Zinc Odda project in Norway. The project is an important step for VEO, which aims to increase its presence on the process industry market in the Nordic countries.

With the expansion project, Boliden Odda is planning to increase its annual production capacity of zinc metal from 200,000 tonnes to 350,000 tonnes. The zinc production in Odda is already amongst the most climate efficient in the world, and the expansion will allow for even higher resource efficiency and productivity.

VEO’s scope includes MCCs (motor control centres), busbars, and frequency converters. The equipment is completely customised according to Boliden’s needs and will be delivered throughout 2023, with a first delivery set for beginning of the year. Commissioning of the new production capacity is planned for Q4 2024.
