Metsä Board Husum awards VEO with significant power distribution project
25 toukokuun, 2022In February 2022, Metsä Board, part of Metsä Group, and VEO signed a contract under which VEO supplies main power distribution technologies for an extension to Metsä Board’s paperboard mill in Husum, Sweden.
At VEO, the design phase has already begun and the complete project is planned to be handed over to the client during summer 2023. VEO’s EPC delivery includes the main transformer, distribution transformers, two medium-voltage switchgears as well as SCADA-based monitoring and control.
“The project is completely in line with our strategy to grow our presence in the industry business segment in Sweden. The cooperation with our long-term client Metsä Group in Finland has always worked smoothly, and we are delighted that Metsä Board in Sweden chose us for this significant industrial electrification project,” says Jakob Lövdahl, Vice President for VEO’s Industry business segment.
The extension of the mill is part of Metsä Board’s response to growing demand for sustainably produced packaging materials that support the circular economy. The investment strengthens Metsä Board’s position as the leading producer of folding boxboard in Europe.
”The power distribution system is an important part of the electrical project scope and we are happy with the way VEO met our technical enquiry for this project. We have no earlier experience from VEO deliveries to Metsä Board Husum but references from Finland and Sweden gave us good input during the negotiation phase. We are looking forward to a good cooperation and a successful delivery,” states Patrik Kristoffersson, EIA Manager, Metsä Board Husum.”
