Since 2020, VEO has delivered several electrical housing solutions (VEO E-Houses) per year to Finnish company Terrafame. Terrafame specialises in the production of nickel and cobalt sulfates, which are essential battery chemicals in the manufacturing of batteries used in electric vehicles.
Terrafame has positioned itself as a key player in the production of battery chemicals, contributing to the transition towards sustainable energy solutions and the development of the electric vehicle industry. So far, VEO has delivered around ten E-Houses to Terrafame, and more are on their way.
The VEO E-House is an electrical housing unit, which can withstand the harsh conditions in the industry area. The steel-framed E-Houses can be delivered to meet even the highest corrosion resistance class; C5.
“Since 2020, we have consistently provided Terrafame with 2-4 E-Houses annually. Through our collaboration, we have developed and tailored the E-House solution to align with their specific operational requirements, and we are looking forward to a continued, fruitful cooperation”, says Juha Tuisku, Sales Manager at VEO.
The VEO E-Houses are delivered fully electrified so that all functions from bus ducts, low-voltage switchgear and control circuits as well as frequency converters and cooling systems are pre-assembled and tested at VEO’s factory. Also, a transformer can be fitted under the same roof by separating it from the electrical equipment with a wall-structure meeting the fire resistance ratings required.
The E-House can be moved to another location, because even the cable compartment under the building is made of movable concrete elements developed by VEO. Especially in the large scale industry, the ability to move the power source is important as mining work advances.
